WHO IS the_spicyginger?

Hello! I am the_spicyginger, but you can call me spicy. Right before the pandemic began, I acquired a bunch of studio equipment intending to write my music. While I did do some of that, I also quickly realized I had all the equipment I needed to start streaming on Twitch.

I began streaming video games on Twitch. Mostly Star Wars things like KOTOR and Force Unleashed. After meeting some streamers and realizing how popular Rocksmith streaming became, I decided to jump on board. After my first year, I started feeling like Twitch was not the right platform, and after a short discussion with friend and fellow streamer KotaSouth, I decided to give Trovo a chance. The rest is history.

WHY TROVO?

I get asked this a lot when I chat with my Twitch streaming friends. The answer is very simple, Trovo is better. Trovo allows streamers to give back directly to their community, something Twitch does not do. I enjoy being able to send back some of the money I make to all the people who help me get to where I am today! Also, their emotes are so much better. Just look at the little gecko/lizard guy! He is so cute!

WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU DO?

I stream Rocksmith on Trovo. I take your requested song and, if someone has made a chart for it, I sight-read it. If no one requests anything, I play heavy metal, usually Sylosis, Trivium, or Lamb of God. Why so much metal? Because it’s fun!

I have been playing guitar since I was 11, so it has been almost 20 years of playing. Like other learners, I started learning chords, Smoke on the Water, Beatles, and stuff. BUT I GOT BORED! I have Attention Deficit Disorder and need to keep moving or doing something and playing four chords in the same progression is BORRRRING! So I started playing Black Sabbath, and the Disturbed, then As I lay Dying, Trivium, and realized that the heavier the music, the more complex and technical the guitar playing! With all that said, if you request a pop song or something not “shreddy”, I’m not gonna ignore you. All requests are welcome!

WHAT DO YOU DO OUTSIDE OF STREAMING?

For anyone who is genuinely curious about my personal life, I work a Part-Time day job as a Behavior Technician working with clients that are on the spectrum. I have worked since I was 16 years old and continued to work through my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. I graduated with my Master’s in Psychology back in 2020 and I am considering going back for a Ph.D. in Psychology. My goal is to be a licensed Psychologist with a focus on sexual and couples therapy. I am undecided if I will go the route of Psychopharmacology, but the thought intrigues me.

Aside from school, I love board games, Star Wars, Crypto, and Art. My wife and I play various board games but tend to lean toward the Lovecraftian-style ones.

Star Wars is an obsession of mine and you will see that firsthand if you have seen my stream. We even have a donation reward called “Order 66” where I don a stormtrooper helmet of my choosing and attempt to play the song with it on. Harder than it sounds because my headset doesn’t fit nor do my glasses, so I cannot see the notes or hear the song!

I rarely talk about Crypto as it is a touchy subject for some, but I may start discussing it more later. Or perhaps a section of the site dedicated to my degenerate gambling? We will see.

Lastly, art has always been something I love. My wife and I drew all our own emotes and the banner listed above was designed and drawn by me as well. I have designed tee shirts and merch and I have been working on another design I hope to share soon. Most of my work now is digital, and for anyone into NFTs and crypto, I can tell you I have designed my own NFTs as well as commissions for friends and 2 NFT projects. I hope to continue to do this in the future.

NOW WHAT? WHY A BLOG? WHY DID I READ THIS?

Wow, you made it to the end. Now you know more about me, congrats, but you want to know the purpose of all this. Well, I get asked questions all the time on stream about music, guitar, Rocksmith, etc. and I want to create a site that could be used as a resource for all of that. Not many people like to discuss Rocksmith stream setups because it is a pain in the ass, but I think it is important to share the knowledge so you can stream on Trovo with me! I am here to help and will answer everything I can in follow-up blogs. Until then, STAY SPICY!
